Sissel Receives Knighthood

Although it was originally announced back in October that the King of Norway had selected Sissel for knighthood in the St. Olav's Order, it wasn't until today that Sissel finally officially received the knighthood.

Her manager, Arne Svare, and her former manager Rune Larsen spoke. Arne said Sissel has only ever been mad one time in the 15 years he's been her manager, which occured while on a car tour in California when she hadn't eaten in a very long time.

Sissel sang for the full house at the ceremony at Hotel Bristol in Oslo, featuring "Innerst i sjelen," "Ave Marie," and she concluded with and was joined by the folks in the audience from Bergen in singing Bergen's song "Jeg tok min nystemte."

Congratulations Sissel! You certainly deserve that honor as the most talented signer whom I ever heard. Your country (and your fans like me) should be proud of you. Actually you should have received knighthood a long time ago. If I was the Canadian prime minister, I would certainly recommend that you be made an honorary member of the Order of Canada as well.

Best regards,

Does anyone know if I can obtain a copy DVD, or CD, or download, of Sissel singing the Bergen National Anthem "Jeg tok min nystemte"
Ever since Sissell sang it at the Eurovision Song Contest interval in 1986 I have been after a copy
